"What is wisdom"?
I believe wisdom is general morals and knowledge combined: how someone makes decisions, how they think, how they deal with complex problems. I guess it depends from person to person, but academic grades do not determine someone's wisdom.
"How do people detect wisdom?"
This was a question we got this week in Humanities. This question was pretty hard to answer, so I guess I'll have to say that wisdom is just plain knowledge based on experience. How someone makes judgements. How someone works around a tricky situation. Academic grades? No. Social acceptance? No. Wisdom is why we continue to work even when we fail.
